Mentor, Tutor, and Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in mentoring, tutoring, and volunteering with Colorado “I Have A Dream” Foundation. We are thrilled you are considering becoming a part of our family of supporters. All of our mentors, tutors, and volunteers will be required to attend an orientation session before engaging in our daily/weekly or monthly/quarterly/semester opportunities. At this orientation, we will provide you with all of the information and training necessary to support our youth and their families successfully.
To learn more or to sign up as a mentor or volunteer, please contact Hannah Bailey at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 303-861-5005. To learn more or sign up as a tutor, please contact Marionne Neal at email@example.com or call 303-861-5005.
* All opportunities are currently taking place virtually.
Our mentor program is a one-year program that matches a mentee with a mentor. Mentees and mentors will commit to meeting for one hour per week for one full year. Mentors are crucial people in the academic, emotional, and personal development of the youth they are mentoring. We ask mentors to complete one virtual training session before beginning the relationship and participate in on-going training throughout the year with our mentor coordinator.
Our tutoring program is a youth-centered academic tutoring experience. We ask tutors to commit to a minimum of one hour per week. Tutoring will take place from 2:00-6:00 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. The focus of tutoring will be homework help and academic intervention based on individual youth needs. We ask tutors to complete one virtual training session with us before beginning. Tutoring will be virtual via Zoom meetings until further notice. Prior tutoring/teaching experience is not required.
Guest Speaker at Extended Learning Courses
Are you passionate about your career? Do you have a knack for gardening or painting? Is building robots a weekend hobby? We are looking for experts to join our extended learning courses as guest speakers. Volunteers will be paired with the course instructor to determine the frequency of your guest speaker series (once a month, bi-monthly, once a semester) that best meets your schedule. Extended learning courses are on Monday-Thursday from 3:00-5:00 PM. We ask guest speakers to commit to at least a 45-minute session on the day(s) of your choosing.
One-Time/More Flexible Opportunities
Thanksgiving/Holiday Baskets for Families
Each year the Rotary Club of Denver Southeast sponsors Thanksgiving and holiday baskets for our families. Assembling the food in the baskets and distributing them to families takes approximately three hours. If you are interested in supporting one or both of these events, please contact us for a specific day and time.
